Bart Halper

November 16, 1951 — October 11, 2016

Bart Halper, 64, of Easton, died at his home after a far too brief battle with pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, October 11, 2016. He was a simple man who lived an extraordinary life.

Bart was born November 16, 1951 to the late Herbert and Hazel (Elizabeth (Gillespie) Halper and was raised in Hicksville, NY. Bart was a high school graduate and later attended Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire.

Bart met his devoted wife, Mary Ann (Staruski) Halper on a blind date and as fate would have it they have been married for over 39 years; making many wonderful memories along the way. Bart is also survived by his daughters, Jamie Ann Halper-Brody and her husband, Christopher and Shannon Elizabeth Linsenbigler and her husband, Matthew all of Bethlehem; Barts granddaughter, Laila Quinn Brody and his sister, Elizabeth McFall and her husband, Robert of Arizona. He was also the beloved brother-in-law of Barbara, wife of the late Paul Staruski; Peggy and husband, Chuck Smukler; Tom and wife, Bev Starusky and the late Leo and Jan Staruski and he will be missed by his many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Bart had an amazing work ethic which was proudly on display while at Crothall Healthcare where he served in healthcare management. He also had a spirit for adventure. Bart was a privately licensed pilot and a member of the Civil Air Patrol; he loved to ski and was formerly a ski instructor. His adventures also took him beneath the sea to explore life in the ocean, sharing this passion for scuba diving as a dive instructor. He was a Jeep enthusiast who often participated in off-road Jeep events and enjoyed being a handler for Labrador Retrievers in dog shows. He was also a talented pianist and even had a try-out with the New England Patriots. He certainly lived life! To relax, Bart may enjoy listening to the Beach Boys and having an Oh Henry candy bar.

Barts family will receive guests at The Connell Funeral Home on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 8-9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 1817 First St. Bethlehem, PA 18020.
