Irene Boligitz

Irene Boligitz, 90, of Bethlehem, died, on Sunday, November 12, 2017. She was born January 5, 1927, the daughter of the late Alexander and Anna (Andreics) Kercsmar. Irene was the devoted wife of the late Joseph P. Boligitz.

Irene retired in 1989 after working as a seamstress for Sure Fit Inc. for over 39 years. On weekends, she also worked as a waitress during events at the Windish Hall. She was a member of St. Johns Windish Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society, Lydia Circle and Bethlehem/Murska Sobota Sister Cities Association. Irenes passion was bowling and she traveled across the country to participate in various tournaments. She was particularly active in the Southside and Silver Creek Womens Bowling Leagues. Irene enjoyed traveling and kept her mind sharp for many years by successfully completing word puzzles.

Irene will be lovingly remembered by her son, Joseph W. Boligitz and his wife Eileen; grandchildren, Alexander, Andrew and Aaron Boligitz and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Louis, Joseph and William Kercsmar and sisters, Mary Smith, Elsie Watts and Grace Kercsmar.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A viewing will also be held at St. Johns Windish Evangelical Lutheran Church, 617 E. 4th St. Bethlehem, PA 18015 on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 9-10 a.m. with a funeral service to immediately follow at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at Union Cemetery of Hellertown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
