Nicholas Pastelyak

June 5, 1920 — October 2, 2015

Nicholas “Pop” Pastelyak, 95, of Bethlehem, died on Friday, October 2, 2015 at Gracedale Nursing Home. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Stephen Sr. and Mary (Vuksta) Pastelyak. He was the husband of the late Julia (Turanchik) Pastelyak.

Nick worked as a Brakeman for the PBNE Railroad from 53 to 82 and was also employed by the US Postal Service from 59 to 72. He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church and the Bethlehem MORA Club; he also volunteered at the St. Francis Retreat House for 25 plus years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during WWII and the Korean Conflict and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Bill and wife, Debbi; grandson, Eric and wife, Sarah; great grandchildren, Isaac and Aria. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Jenna Rose; and brothers: Charles, Andrew, Stephen, Michael and George.

Viewing hours will be held in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, on Monday, Oct. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A 10 a.m. Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy will follow on Tuesday at Ss. Peter & Paul Church, 1140 Johnston Dr., Bethlehem, PA 18017. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.

Contributions may be made to Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church.
