    Beatris Rivas

    February 1, 1974 - October 17, 2021

It is with profound sorrow, our family announces the passing of Beatris (Bea) Rivas, 47, of Bethlehem, on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital--Fountain Hill. Born on February 1, 1974, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, she was the daughter of Gertrudes Rodriguez; Ernesto and Elena Galarza (Crespo). A graduate of Freedom High School, Bea continued her education at Northampton Community College. Bea began her career at UPS in 2004. At UPS she built long lasting relationships with many and was loved and admired. It was easy for Bea to find this type of affection from everyone she encountered. Bea was unbelievably and recklessly kind; she saw the good in everyone. She would not hesitate to lend a helping hand with whatever little resources she had. She encouraged everyone in her life to be the best versions of themselves, even when they didn’t think they could be--she never gave up on anyone. Bea always thanked and loved the Lord for all her blessings, including her sons, family, and friends. She loved to travel with them and explore new cultures and customs. She enjoyed gathering with everyone for a meal, for games, or arts and crafts; she embraced life. Bea’s love, thoughtfulness, and compassion for others made her an exceptional person and is her everlasting legacy. The family kindly asks that Bea is remembered and honored through acts of kindness and, if possible, a charitable donation, in her name, to the Five Star Heart Project. https://www.fivestarheart.org/ She is preceded in death by her brother, Ernesto (Monchi) Galarza, Jr., who passed away in 2020. In addition to her parents, she will be lovingly remembered by two sons: Isaiah and Kevin Rivas; four brothers: Carlos Galarza (Maricel), Daniel Rodriguez (Mayra), Jason Rodriguez, and Joel Rodriguez; three sisters: Betsaida Rodriguez, Maribel Tandazo (Jimmy), and Rosa Rodriguez (Sean Lacey); as well as dozens of nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at the Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 East Broad Street, Bethlehem, on Thursday, October 21, 2021, from 6:00-8:00pm. A second visitation will be held, at the funeral home, on Friday, October 22, 2021, from 10:00am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00am. Interment will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery.
