Dean Krenz, 86, formerly of Sioux City, Iowa, died March 21. After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he worked in the newspaper publishing industry in Montana, Oregon, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Iowa. He most recently served as publisher of the Sioux City Journal (Iowa) from 1975 until his retirement in 1994. He enjoyed spending time with his family, researching and writing his weekly opinion column, traveling, bird hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joan; his son, Keith and his wife, Lyn of Bethlehem; and his grandchildren: Lauren, Elizabeth Bartell and her husband, William of San Antonio, TX; Katherine Amy Riel and her husband, Jason of Bellingham, MA; and Douglas Dean Krenz of Philadelphia.
Calling hours will be held at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, Saturday, March 25 from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by a private service and interment.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Regina Academy at St. John the Baptist (4040 Durham Rd., Ottsville, PA 18942) in the name of the Krenz Family Scholarship Fund.
