Helen H. Hartney Dickinson 86, formerly of Black River Road, Lower
Saucon Township died Sunday, August 24, 2008 at The Shores at Wesley Manor
in Ocean City, Cape May County, NJ.
Helen was the widow of the late Alton C. Dickinson who died in October
1999 and the daughter of the late Benson B. Hartney, Sr and Elizabeth
Davis Hartney. Helen was a homemaker and helped her husband run
Dickinson's Produce on Black River Road. She grew up in Wesley United
Methodist Church in Bethlehem. In her adult years Helen and Alton were active members of First Baptist Church in Bethlehem where she was a
deaconess and youth leader. Her last five years were spent in Ocean City,
NJ at the Shores at Wesley Manor near her daughter and family.
Helen was devoted to her family and was a loving mother, grandmother and wife.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Betty Ann and husband
Rev. Richard C. Wingate, granddaughter Patricia J. Wingate of Marmora, NJ;
her son Robert A. Dickinson of Atlanta, GA and granddaughter Alexandra Dickinson of Charlotte, NC; and a brother David C. Hartney and wife Marion of Pittsford,
NY; and several nephews and nieces.
Helen is predeceased by a brother Benson B. Hartney, Jr. and a sister
Agnes Odenwelder.
Family and Friends may call at Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 East Broad
Street on Monday, September 1, 2008 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at First Baptist Church, 3235
Linden Street, Bethlehem, on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 11:00 AM
Burial will be at Bethlehem Memorial Park, in Bethlehem, PA prior to the memorial service.
