James P. Tallarico, devoted husband and father, passed on to a heavenly life while at home, surrounded by his beloved family, he was 87 years old.
Jim or Pop-Pop as he was called, was a highly innovative business man who was at the time of his passing still the President of Tallarico Food Products Inc., a regional Food Company founded in 1957.
Jim was the son of Pasquale and Jenny Tallarico, who realized the American dream by operating successful grocery stores in the Bethlehem and Allentown area, where Jim learned his business and food culinary skills.
He was a Korean War veteran, being part of the Army Guard that was called into action when conflict erupted in Korea. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sargent.
-Devoted Husband and Father
Jim and Antoinette (DiGilio) Tallarico met by chance at Dorney park in 1949, and it was love at first sight on both their parts. They were married on September 9th, 1951, and lived a beautiful married life, being blessed with 5 children, 17, grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
-Innovative Businessman
Jim was always at the cutting edge of new ideas in the Grocery and Food Industry beginning in the 1950s and 1960s, such as pioneering prepared foods in the family grocery stores. During the same time he started Tallarico Food Products, creating brands such as their “Sunday Sauce” which used the special family Spaghetti sauce recipe, that was made every Sunday, and served after attending Church.
Other brands created included, the first Steak Sandwich Sauce, Hoagie Spread, and over 20 other product categories.
-Member of Our Lady of Pompeii and then Our Perpetual Help Church
Jim was a member of Our Lady of Pompeii, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church in Bethlehem, and would attend daily mass at Our Lady, or one of several churches in the Lehigh Valley. He lived his faith through word and action.
Jim is survived by his wife Antoinette, his 5 Children Giovanina, Vincent, Joseph, Rosemarie, and Christopher. 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings, John, Rosemary Braun, and Frances Buragino.
His faith, sense of humor, creativity, wisdom, and love will be dearly missed, but we are sure he will be waiting for us in heaven.
Visitiation will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Rd., Bethlehem, on Wednesday, June 8, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. An 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow. Interment will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
