Jeanette K. Kovacs, 79, of Bethlehem, went onto her next journey, on Sunday, November 7, 2021. She was born February 3, 1942 in Bethlehem; daughter of the late Donald and Mable (King) Meixell. She will be remembered as a talented knitter and tenacious leader. She worked for Sure Fit Products for 35 years, retiring in 1997. Jeanette was the past president of the Ladies Garment Workers Union and past vice president of the Northeast Council. She also served as past president of the American Business Women Association and the 540 Democratic Club. Jeanette was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State fan. She was well versed in politics and volunteered her time to work the polls on many occasions for her democratic candidates. She enjoyed having people around her; especially her family. She loved her daughters and grandchildren very much. Jeanette will be dearly missed by her daughters, Debbi Fillman; Donna Kostic and her husband, Terry; Denise Choma and her fiancé, David Harris; and Dodie Schumacher; her sister, Nancy Rodogna and husband, Joe; brother, Ronald Meixell and wife, Dottie; seven grandchildren, Jarred, Kerri, Latae, Nicki, Nat, Tommy, Mikeiah; 14 great grandchildren; her K-9 grandson, Flyer; nieces, nephews and dear friend, Stan. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Jake Vanbrunt; brother, Ralph Meixell and husband, George F. Kovacs. A special thank you to the staff of AseraCare Hospice for taking such wonderful care of Jeanette. Arrangements are entrusted to Connell Funeral Home. A graveside ceremony will be held at Bethlehem Memorial Park on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 12 noon. Guests are invited to gather on Madison Avenue. A celebration of life reception will follow the graveside ceremony. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, please list “in memory of Jake Vanbrunt” in the memo and/or American Heart Association.
