Joseph H. Lennert, 91, of Bethlehem, died on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Hospice House of St. Luke's.

He was born October 18, 1919 in Bethlehem, the son of the late Joseph and Mary Alec Lennert.

Joseph was preceded in death on June 6, 2010 by his loving wife, Mary A. Check Lennert. They would have celebrated 66 years of marriage on June 9th of this year.

After attending Bethlehem High School; Joseph became a dedicated employee for the Bethlehem Steel Corp. He began as a Machinist Apprentice in 1939 and retired as a General Foreman of Forge 3 in 1982; never missing a day of work.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Mary Ann, and her husband Alfred Umble; Dr. Joseph B. Lennert and his wife, Colette; and Deanna and her husband Joseph Vesely all of Bethlehem. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Gina Goldman, Joseph C. Lennert, Brett Lennert and Justin Lennert, Alexandria Vesely and Nathan Vesely as well as five great grandchildren and his sister, Elizabeth Gallo of Bethlehem.

Joseph was also predeceased by his daughter, Carol; son, Richard; grandson, Royce and his sisters, Mary Theresa and Irene.

He was a parishioner of the former St. John Capistrano Catholic Church, Bethlehem and more recently Joseph was a parishioner of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Bethlehem. Joseph was a lifetime member of the Southside Fireman's Relief Assoc. and a member of the Bethlehem MORA Club. He enjoyed golfing and bowling and was very proud of his vegetable garden.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 13, 2011 from 9-10:30 AM at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem PA 18018.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 11 AM in St. Anne's Catholic Church 450 Washington Ave. Bethlehem PA 18017.

Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
