Louis "Louie" R. Almodovar 78, of Fountain Hill died on Saturday, March 14, 2009 peacefully at his Residence surrounded by his loving family. Louie was born in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico and was the son of the late Genaro Almodovar and Margarita Acosta Rivera and step son of the late Blanca Mendez Almodovar. Louie was the husband of Consuelo E. Pina Almodovar with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage on February 14, 2009.
Louis served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a charger at the coke ovens of the former Bethlehem Steel Co. where he retired in 1987 after 34 years service. He then worked part time as a Bus Monitor for the Bethlehem Area School District for 14 years. He was a member of St. Ursula's Catholic Church where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. Louie was an avid baseball fan of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Louis will be lovingly remembered by his wife-Consuelo E. Pina Almodovar of Fountain Hill, three daughters Margaret Mast and husband Donald of Bethlehem, Anna Marie Martinez of Bethlehem and Consuelo Almodovar of Allentown, a brother William Acosta of Puerto Rico, three grandchildren Marc, Melinda, and Angela, and three great grandchildren, Mariah, Marquis and Mia.
Louis is predeceased by his parents and a sister Aida Mendez.
Friends may call on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 8:15 AM to 9:15 AM at the Connell Funeral Home, 245 East Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ursula's Catholic Church, 1300 Broadway, Bethlehem, PA 18015 at 10:00 AM
