Alexander A. Holeczy Sr., 98, of Bethlehem, PA passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Moravian Village in Bethlehem. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late Samuel and Margaret (Gubar) Holeczy. He was the husband of the late Winifred Irene (Martin) Holeczy and the late Diane L. (Carr) Holeczy.
As a young boy, Al was inspired to learn to fly by watching planes. He joined the Navy and proudly became a Flying Midshipman. Al graduated and received his bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech University. He worked for several companies over the years, including IBM, Burroughs, and Briggs Associates. He worked on early main frame computers and the Gemini space program. He also taught at Villanova and Widener Universities in the engineering departments. He was a Mason at the Norristown Lodge for many years and served as a past Grand Master. He enjoyed problem solving and working with his hands. He designed and added a master bedroom and porch to their King of Prussia house. He taught flying, owned a sail boat, and enjoyed bow hunting, fishing, camping, working on cars and even started building his own airplane.
He will be lovingly remembered by his three children and their spouses, Shari (John) Fisher, Marty (Jack) Sullivan, and Alex (Tama) Holeczy Jr., 5 granddaughters: Deborah (Greg) Peters, Elizabeth (Chasten) Bell, Susanna (Jonathan) Carpenter, Rebekah Sullivan, Sarah Sullivan, 10 great grandchildren, his sister Lillian Bellini, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Samuel Holeczy Jr., Eugene Holeczy, Louis Holeczy, and Palco Holeczy, and sisters, Erma Tursanyni, Margo Campbell and Julia Linn.
His ashes will be buried at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens in a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Al's honor to Restorenyc.org.
