Anita Memet

August 23, 1929 — January 11, 2024

Anita Memet, 94, of Bethlehem, PA, went home to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 11, 2024 peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Chicago, Ill, to Anne and Felix Kirschling, she moved to NYC to start a family with her husband of 55 years, Vince (predeceased) with whom she traveled to all 50 states and over 130 countries, proudly displaying in her home group photos of the children she met from each country. Together, they volunteered their time to various causes, including the Somerville soup kitchen every Thanksgiving. Though thrust into the big city culture, Anita never strayed from her midwestern roots, charming everyone with her polite demeanor, humor and quick smile.

After raising her children, as a lifelong lover of classical music Anita took her piano and violin talents, and her 1000 watt smile, to Bound Brook, NJ, becoming the orchestra manager and first chair violinist of the Somerset Valley Orchestra. To further her passion she recruited 4 members/friends to form a chamber group naming it King George Promusica that performed for area schools, nursing homes and local musical events for over 10 years.

Anita was deeply religious, a devout Catholic communicant at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. She had an unwavering faith in the afterlife that steered her family spiritually. Her favorite time of year was Christmas when she would regale us on Christmas Eve playing tunes on the piano while we all sang along.

Anita left behind a legacy of unconditional love and devotion to her children, Linda Mento (Bill) of Bethlehem PA, Michael Memet (Jill) of Piscataway, NJ and Susan Fernandez of Bethlehem PA, as well as grandchildren Michael, Thomas (Brandi), Nicholas, Carrie (Jim), Luke (Lauren), Ryan, Alyssa (Tony), Tyler (Jessica) and Vincent; great grandchildren Vincent, Cecilia, Michael and Thomas; and brother Charles Kirschling (LouHelen) and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 11 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 3221 Santee Road, Bethlehem, PA 18020. The interment will conclude services at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Bethlehem Twp. Online condolences may be offered at www.connellfuneral.com.
