Anna Marie Chickey, 80, of Bethlehem, passed away April 20, 2026, peacefully at home. Born on March 20, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Blanche (Ponticelli) Varady. She was the beloved wife of Joseph J. Chickey for 60 years.
Anna Marie worked at Glenby Company Orr's Department Store in Bethlehem as a Cosmetologist. She also worked for the Bethlehem Area School District's Evening Program teaching sewing, and was a part of the Childcare program. For 16 years, Anna Marie was the office manager at Cheryl Chickey's All American P.A.C.. She planned many studio trips, including the Miss America Parade and Pageant, and loved to help at recitals. She was the Event Coordinator for the baton and dance camps held at t he Tamiment Resort, Poconos, Pennsylvania. She enjoyed watching many student performances over the years. Anna Marie was multi-talented, and given the title Personal Learner, referencing her skills in accounting, finance, architectural drawings designing her own homes. She took immense pride in being her own Property Manager for her Cape May home.
Anna Marie was a devoted member of St. Anne's Catholic Church of Bethlehem, and also served as a volunteer. She was highly respected in her community as a volunteer for many different organizations, including East Hills Band and Freedom High School Band Organization. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and always put her family first.
Anna Marie will be fondly remembered by her husband, Joseph J. Chickey; two daughters, Joanne Chickey, and Cheryl (Lawrence) Chickey-Cipolone; grandchildren, Nicholas and Layla Cipolone; and a brother, John (Gail) Varady.
In addition to her parents, Anna Marie was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy, and her husband Ronald Hersh, Sr.; as well as a sister-in-law, Tina Chickey.
Services will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Bethlehem, PA, on Wednesday April 29th, 2026. Friends and family are invited to attend a calling hour at 10 a.m. at the church, followed by a Mass beginning at 11 a.m..
