Anna Ferko, 63, of Texas, formerly of North Brunswick, NJ, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Saturday September 28, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg Campus. She was born in Blatne Revistia, Slovakia, the daughter of the late John and Pauline (Krehel) Ferko. Anna immigrated to the United States in 1969 with her parents and sister on a Pan Am Clipper, sparking her lifelong love of aviation. She went on to pursue a career in aviation, holding various positions with Continental and then United Airlines for over 30 years in Newark, NJ, and most recently in Houston, TX.
Anna loved to take advantage of her employee flight benefits by traveling and exploring the world. She caught the travel bug early on backpacking through Europe and never needed an excuse to go somewhere. Whether it was a day trip to Washington, DC to visit the museums, or a spontaneous trip to Italy over a holiday weekend, Anna would often book a flight and figure out the rest along the way . Her family always looked forward to seeing which destination she would pick for their annual summer vacation. Anna also enjoyed spending time at her home away from home in Juno Beach, Florida.
When she wasn't traveling the world, Anna enjoyed being home and tending to the beautiful flowers and hummingbirds in her garden after enjoying a relaxing morning and strong cup of Café du Monde. She always looked forward to seeing her new granddaughter, either in person or on a facetime call. Anna was constantly busy doing something, but she always had time for her friends and family. She recognized the value of sharing a homecooked meal with anyone who came over to visit. Nobody ever left her house hungry.
Anna was a devout catholic and volunteered regularly at her church. Her faith in God was unshakable and she could often be heard saying "I don't have to worry about anything. God will guide me and take care of me."
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, John Miller and wife Lindsay, granddaughter, Sophia Miller, sister, Mary Olexa and husband Milan, niece, Christine Saginor and family, and nephew, Jason Olexa and family.
An Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy will be held 10am Wednesday October 9, 2024, at Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church 1140 Johnston Dr. Bethlehem, PA 18017.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St John Chrysostom Byzantine Catholic Church at 5402 Acorn Street, Houston, TX 77092.
