Anna Mikitka, 101, of Whitehall, formerly of Bethlehem, passed away on July 1, 2026 at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. She was the wife of the late Joseph Mikitka whom she shared 57 years of marriage with until his passing April 2, 2006. Anna was born in Egypt, Lehigh County on December 14, 1924 to the late John and Mary (Fedorchak) Bobersky. She was a 1943 graduate of Whitehall High School, where she first demonstrated her strong work ethic by serving lunch in the cafeteria. She later worked at a local 5 & Dime store and pressed shirts in a nearby shirt factory, experiences that shaped her understanding of hard work. After, graduation, she was employed as a stenographer in the office of Mack Trucks, until her marriage. After her first child was born, she was invited to return to her former job, but she declined, deciding to dedicate her life to caring for her husband and children. She was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Bethlehem.
Survivors: daughters: Joanne Neitz wife of Edward of Bethlehem, Marilyn Halteman wife of Daniel of Bethlehem, Annamarie Barrall wife of Robert of Whitehall, with whom she resided, Marybeth Friedman wife of Scott of Bethlehem; grandchildren: Jennifer Kaltreider wife of Adam & Joshua Friedman, ; great-grandchildren: Michael & Mackenzie Kaltreider; sister: Catherine Hamm of Liberty, NC; several nieces & nephews. Predeceased by her siblings: Harry, Metro, Nicholas, Joseph, twin brother Andrew, Nellie & Helen.
Service: Family and friends are invited to her viewing 10-11am Thursday, July 9, 2026 at the Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad Street, Bethlehem followed by a service at 11am. The interment will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Please dress in business casual attire as we gather for her services.
