Barbara C. Ahern

Barbara C. Ahern, 83, of Fountain Hill, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her family. Born on March 6, 1943 in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Roger and Eleanore (Webb) Compton.

Barbara earned her bachelor's degree from Mansfield University and continued her academic journey to obtain a master's degree from Kutztown University. For 30 years, she passionately served the community as a 7th-grade English teacher and as a senior high school guidance counselor in Northampton.

Barbara was a woman of faith, deeply committed to her church and community. She actively participated in various women's Bible fellowship studies and led children's Bible fellowship groups, known as Awana, for many years. Her love for her faith was rivaled only by her dedication to her family, particularly her beloved grandchildren, with whom she cherished spending time.

Barbara will be dearly missed by her husband of 41 years, Thomas C. Ahern, Jr.; three children, Jeffrey Howell and his wife, Rebecca, Thomas Ahern III and his wife, Courtney, and Tracy Grimm and her husband, Garnet; and five grandchildren, Kayla Howell, Hannah Howell, Willa Ahern, Mira Grimm, and Garnet Grimm.

In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her sister, Janet Peters.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 10-11:00 a.m. at Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church, 1151 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Allentown, PA 18103. A service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the church.
