Bernard "Bernie" Edelman, 78, of Bethlehem, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. Born on January 15, 1948, in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Bernard and Dora Edelman.

Bernie graduated from Liberty High School before serving his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was stationed in Germany. Following his military service, Bernie joined the workforce at Bethlehem Steel, working in the coke ovens, and remained actively engaged in the local community by participating in the coke oven reunions after the steel industry closed. His vibrant spirit and warm personality made him a beloved figure in the local social scene, where he worked as a bartender in various clubs, forming long-lasting friendships along the way.

Bernie was a man of many passions. He enjoyed the thrill of motorcycles and the camaraderie of golfing, but his heart belonged to the Miami Dolphins. A dedicated fan, he attended many of the team's games, proudly sporting their colors.

Bernie will be dearly missed by his wife, Janet Edelman with whom he recently celebrated 50 loving years of marriage with; son, Robert "Bobby" Ferenczy; his beloved dog and companion, Zac; sister-in-laws, Judy Kropf, Jennifer Granda and her husband, Marvin, Jr., Joan Edelman; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bernie is preceded in death by his siblings, William Edelman, John Edelman, and Helena Flannery.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018. Another visitation will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026 from 10-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will conclude services at Nisky Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lehigh Valley Hospice, 1627 W Walnut St., Allentown, PA 18102. Bernie's family would like to extend their heartfelt thank you to Lehigh Valley Hospice for their love and care during this time.
