Coopersburg

Bruce Milton James Knauss, Jr., 72, of Coopersburg, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at University Hospital SUNY Health Center in Syracuse, NY. Born on July 31, 1954 in Quakertown, PA, he was the son of the late Bruce Knauss, Sr. and Joan (Koons) Knauss.

A passionate educator like his father before him, Bruce dedicated his career to shaping young minds at Milford Middle School. His commitment to education extended beyond the classroom where he also coached soccer and basketball. His willingness to adapt his approach for the benefit and success of his students & athletes was unparalleled, and showcased one of his greatest traits; his exceptional joy in witnessing and celebrating the successes and accomplishments of others.

Bruce was known for his vibrant personality, a warm presence of authentic positivity wherever he went. He was known for his love of sports; he was fortunate to witness the Philadelphia Eagles win not just one, but two Super Bowls. His DVR was always full of HGTV shows, episodes of Columbo, and a wide assortment of sporting events. He loved Dr. Who, Star Trek, and almost anything science fiction.

Bruce loved spending time with his wife and family, accumulating in his lifetime an endless treasury of memorable concerts, sporting events, vacations, and togetherness. Most recently he was enjoying getting to know his granddaughter. He was a man who would have done absolutely anything for his wife and children without hesitation or second thought. He exhibited love, gratitude, empathy, and compassion to the people & world around him on a scale that is incredibly rare.

Bruce will be dearly missed by his wife of 42 years, Colleen (Carraghan) Knauss; children, Andy Knauss and Eric Knauss & his wife Kirsten (Sneeringer) Knauss; and his beloved granddaughter, Clover.
