Daria Balaziuk

Daria Balaziuk, 96, of Bethlehem, died Monday, May 1, 2006. Born August 23, 1909 in Ukraine, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Ivan Mychajliw and Iryna Lubinecky Mychajliw. She was the loving wife of the late Hnat Balaziuk. They were married for 52 years before he died in 1992.

Daria was a school teacher in Ukraine. In 1949, she and her husband immigrated to the United States. Daria was a member of St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church of Bethlehem and a member of the Ladies Auxillary. She was a lso a member of Ukrainian National Women?s League, Branch 91, of Bethlehem.

Daria will be lovingly remembered by, her sons, Oleh Balaziuk and wife Patricia of Easton, Zenon Balaziuk and wife Anna of Bethlehem, sister, Ivanna Horodyskyj of Chicago, IL, brother, Eugene Mychajliw and wife Bohdanna of Bethlehem, Maria Antoniw and husband Stefan of Parma, OH, Grandchildren, Andre & Natalia Balaziuk, Robert & David Harper, Patricia Koch and various nieces and nephews in Ukraine and the United States of America, her friend Rosalia Sheregi & her children David, Myroslawa and Victoria.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the church or Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv, Ukraine, or the Monastary at Hoshiv, Ukraine c/o Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018.

Services: An Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy will be held Saturday, May 5, 2006 at 10 a.m. at St. Josaphat?s Ukrainian Catholic Church 1826 Kenmore Ave. Bethlehem. A Panachida will be held at 9:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem. Visitation will be held Friday, May 4, 2006 from 7-9 p.m. and a Parastas at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
