The family of Dorothy Joan Morrow is sad to announce her passing at home on the morning of Saturday, August 16th, 2025 at the age of 94. The daughter of Florence and John McGarry, Dorothy was born on February 7th, 1931 and raised in the Bronx, New York. She grew up alongside her older sister Ann and younger brother John in an apartment on Astor Avenue. Dorothy attended Columbus High School and later worked at Home Insurance in Manhattan, New York. In 1955, Dorothy met the love of her life Brendan Morrow at a CYO dance in Throgs Neck, New York. The two were married one year later in 1956 - when you know, you know! After marrying, "Dar" and Brendan settled in Massapequa, New York and had 6 daughters. Their years in Massapequa were filled with boating, trips to the beach, and fun with their neighbors. Later, the family relocated to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where Dorothy spent her days raising her daughters, seeing them married to 6 "hand-picked" sons-in-law, and later, caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy filled every room with laughter, joy, and life. Holding court on her back deck, hosting the best Christmases in Bethlehem, and spending afternoons on the beaches of Cape Cod and the Jersey Shore (always side by side in matching chairs with her sister and best friend, Ann) are the moments by which Dorothy will be most lovingly remembered. Dorothy was notoriously fashionable, remembered for wearing a kerchief on her head, never seen without her "pocketbook", and always keeping up with the trends even as the years passed. Dorothy was a talented artist in her free time, most commonly creating beautiful oil-painted landscapes.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Brendan, her sister, Ann, and her brother, John. She is survived by her 6 daughters, Ann (Glenn) Klages, Joan (Kevin) Brosious, Jean (Terry) Clark, Patricia (Kevin) Dwyer, Susan (Reed) Finney, and Jane (Christopher) Mulvihill, as well as her 24 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren (with one more on the way!)
Dorothy lived a long, beautiful, and incredible life, filled with family, love, and so much to honor. Her wit, wisdom, and fun-loving soul will be greatly missed and frequently remembered.
