Ethel M. Monroe Potosnak, 96, Allentown, died Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Luther Crest Health Center in Allentown.
Born February 15, 1912 in Hoboken, NJ she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Ferber and Harry Monroe. She was married to her husband Nicholas Jannicola for 40 years until his passing and then was married to the late Arthur J. Potosnak for nine years.
Ethel worked as a Supervisior for AT&T Long Distance in New York for 36 years and retiring in 1963. She was a life long member of the AT&T Pioneers. She was also a member of Bell Telephone Retirees Inc. Ethel also enjoyed bowling, traveling and helping out with the Senior Citizens Clubs. She bowled for 33 years with the Senior Citizens Bowling League at Town and Country Lanes where she also served as president. Ethel also volunteered at the North Side Senior Citizens and was a past member of its council.
Ethel will be lovingly remembered by her stepsons; Jerome Potosnak and wife Judy of Breinigsville, PA and Arthur R. Potosnak and wife Alice of Allentown, sisters Rosalind Kilety of Sparta, NJ and Harriet Kearns of Glenwood, NJ. She is also survived by six step grandchildren, six step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers; Raymond Monroe, Joseph, Monroe, and Harry Monroe, Edward Monroe, sisters; Dorothy Smith, Cathrine Carroll, and Ruth Clausen, and one Step Grandchild, Arthur Potosnak, Jr.
SERVICES
Visitation will be at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 from 8:15 AM to 9:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 210 E. Northampton St., Bath, PA 18014 at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, in Bethlehem, PA
Memorial contributions may be made in Ethel's name to the church.
