Frances I. Straka Korpics, 89, of Hellertown, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 7, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem. Born in Bethlehem on October 27, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Norko Straka. She was the wife of the late Stephen J. Korpics, who passed away January 11, 2002. They were married in Bethlehem on June 8, 1940.
Frances was employed by the Holtz Garment Company and Moravian Academy, Bethlehem, and the Patio Restaurant at the former Hess's Department Store, Allentown. She attended Broughal Junior and Liberty High Schools. She was an avid gardener who took pride in growing her roses and tomatoes. She loved dancing, polka music, listening to Broadway musicals, and classical opera. She was very fashion and style conscious. She was a member of the former Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Slovak Catholic Sokols, and former Bethlehem Steel Club, Hellertown.
She will be lovingly remembered by daughters, Jean M. Lasover, Bethlehem; Marian D. Aranyos husband John, Warren, PA; Janet P. Benson husband David, Virginia Beach, VA; brother, William Straka, Bethlehem; step-siblings, David Straka, Loveland, CO, and Carolyn Pappas, Indiatlantic, FL; grandchildren Stacey Smith husband Jeff, great-granddaughter, Shyla Noelle, South Riding, VA; Greg Lasover, Alexandria, VA; Derek Aranyos, Pittsburgh, PA; Cheryl Aranyos, Altoona, PA; and Rachel Aranyos, Warren, PA. She was preceded in death by brothers Joseph, George, and John Straka; sister, Helen Snyder.
