Francesco "Frank" Lo Basso, 79, of Bethlehem Township by way of Union City, NJ and Italia, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital Fountain Hill with his wife, Linda, by his side. Born on June 22, 1946, in Molfetta, Italy, he was the son of the late Damiano Lo Basso and Lucia (Mastrofilippo) Lo Basso.
Frank devoted his professional life to engineering as a Senior Mechanical Designer, where his creativity and expertise left a lasting impact. He held numbers in his head-could hang a picture frame without a level, eye a ten-yard distance, add up the tab without a smartphone (which he never wanted or needed). His religion was futbol. His alliance swung between AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Juventus-whichever was at the top of Serie A. He thrived on the intricacies of building model ships and cars, and held a particular interest in WWII history.
Frank will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 43 years, Linda C. Lo Basso; daughters, Alessandra Lo Basso and her husband, Michael, Francesca Lo Basso, and Gabriela Lo Basso; two brothers, Onofrio Lo Basso and his wife, Anna, and Sergio Lo Basso and his wife, Luz; one sister, Lisa Maramonte and her husband, Tommaso; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Lo Basso; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Frank is preceded in death by his two brothers, Mario and Sergio Lo Basso.
When you think of Frank-Francesco, Frankfurter, Uncle Flinky-think of him in a garage on Concord Circle, garage door rolled up. He's sitting in a chair in a worn-soft pair of paint-splattered jeans and a buffalo plaid jacket, legs stretched out in front of him. With a cigar in one hand and a snifter of cognac in the other, he's at peace-at rest-looking up at the stars.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 10-11:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 with a funeral service beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Picture Philadelphia: www.bigpicturephiladelphia.org/donate or 2300 West Master St., Philadelphia, PA 19121. Big Picture Philadelphia is a nonprofit organization where Frank's daughter is employed and who he was a huge supporter of.
