Bethlehem

Gail Marie Heimpel-Zydyk, 69, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, passed away at home on October 27, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Gail brought joy to the people around her. She had a smile that was hard not to return and a laugh that could get everyone else laughing along with her. Whether she was spending time with family, out with friends, or walking her dog, Chase, around the neighborhood, she had a way of making people feel good. Her husband, Boris, often called her "the happiest girl in the world," and anyone who knew her understood why.

Born and raised in Bethlehem, Gail built a life with Boris that was full of love, laughter, and family. They genuinely enjoyed being together, whether it was sharing coffee in the morning, going out to dinner, taking drives into the mountains, spending time by the pool, or dancing together at Musikfest and concerts. They were partners, best friends, and the kind of couple who could still make each other laugh after all their years together.

Being a mother was one of the most important parts of Gail's life. She loved her children, Sean, Devin, and Alexis, unconditionally. She created a home where friends were always welcome, music was usually playing, and everyone knew they had somewhere to turn when they needed her. She wasn't afraid to tell you what she thought, but there was never a question that she would be there for you. Gail didn't need to talk about putting family first. She simply did it.

Gail loved having something to celebrate. Birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, or just an excuse to get everyone together for dinner, she made sure the people in her life felt special. She loved going out with the girls, enjoying a good Martini, dancing with Boris, and listening to Luther Vandross, Earth Wind & Fire, and George Strait, preferably with the volume turned up.

She was just as excited to become "Gigi" as she had been to become a mother. Gail loved her six grandchildren and was always looking for special gifts she could get for them. She loved being part of their lives and took enormous happiness in watching her family grow.

Gail had a lifelong love for animals, especially her dogs and birds. She also loved taking pictures, and she took a lot of them. Family vacations, birthdays, holidays, and everyday moments were all worth capturing. The thousands of photographs she leaves behind tell the story of a woman who loved her life and the people in it.

After raising her family, Gail worked hard to begin a career with Lehigh Valley Health Network in its laboratories, something she was very proud of.

Gail is survived by her husband, Boris Zydyk; her children, Sean Heimpel and his wife, Rachel; Devin Zydyk and his wife, Elyse; and Alexis Jones and her husband, Tim; her six grandchildren, Caleb, Saylor, Camron, Weston, Rowen, and Hudson; and her brother, James "Jimmy" Heimpel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Gladys Heimpel, and her sister, Judy Master. She also leaves behind many relatives and lifelong friends who meant so much to her.

Gail's family will miss her laughter, her smile, and the simple comfort of knowing she was always there. She leaves behind a family that knows how to love, how to show up for one another, and how to find happiness in being together. Those are things she taught them simply by being herself.

With love, we're rich.

A celebration of Gail's life will be held at a later date, with details to be shared by the family.
