Gary Joseph Urban, 90, of Bethlehem, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Lehigh Valley Muhlenburg. Born on October 5, 1935 in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late John and Frances (Spaar) Urban.
Gary proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Era. He went on to have a successful career as a supervisor in the telecommunications industry, retiring from the former Western Electric after many years of dedicated service.
A faithful member of St. Thomas U.C.C. Gary was deeply involved in his community and cherished his relationships with friends and family. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes, including hunting and fishing, and treasured the moments spent at his cabin and traveling to Canada. Gary was known for hosting countless gatherings at his home, where he entertained family and friends with warmth, laughter and lively conversations. He especially loved engaging in political discussions, always ready to share his opinions with anyone willing to listen.
A sports fanatic, Gary found joy in following his favorite teams--the Phillies and Flyers, and he treasured the companionship of his beloved dogs, Barney and Winnie.
Gary will be dearly missed by his wife of 50 years, Lucille R. (Voytko) Urban; step-children, Linda (Raymond) Rohne and Michael (Tracey) Jefferson; children, Pamela (Timothy) Briody, Gary Michael (Cheryl) Urban, and Melissa (Brian) Stewart; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his sister, Patricia and brother, John.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 with a funeral service beginning at 12 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will conclude services at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
