George J. Smith

George J. Smith, 90, of Bethlehem, died Friday October 27th, 2006, at the VNA of St. Luke?s Hospice House. Born April 20, 1916 he was the son of the late Charles and Caroline Smith. He was the loving husband of Mary Smith, together they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year. He worked as a foreman in the Ingot Mold Foundry at Bethlehem Steel for 42 years before retiring. George was a member of St. Joseph?s Catholic Church of Bethlehem.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary, daughter, Carolyn wife of Michael Bedics of Bethlehem; grandchildren; Kathy, wife of Robert Colton of Alabama; MaryBeth Bedics of Bethlehem; Michael Bedics and wife Denise of Macungie; great-grandchildren, Trey, Meghan, and Drew, sisters, Anna Sarson of Bethlehem; and Sophie Bachl of Michigan. He was preceded in death by, his three brothers, John Smith, Walter J. Smith and James Smith, three Sisters, Josephine Mangeri, Catherine Chromzak and Mary Wilson.

Services: A funeral service will be held, Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church 416 East Fifth St. Bethlehem. Visitation will be held Monday October 30, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, from 8:30- 9:30 a.m. both in the funeral home.
