Hidalgo "Tony" R. Rivera, 87, of Fountain Hill, passed away on July 21, 2026.

Tony was born on June 21, 1939, in Corozal, Puerto Rico, to the late Francisco and Valentina Rivera.

For many years, Tony was an equipment operator and dedicated many years to his profession, earning the respect of those who worked alongside him. An avid outdoorsman, Tony found his greatest joy in spending time in nature. He loved fishing, camping, and landscaping, taking pride in creating and caring for the outdoors around him. He was known for his unforgettable sense of humor, bringing laughter and smiles to those fortunate enough to know him. Above all, Tony was a hardworking and devoted family man, fiercely protective of those he loved. His strength, loyalty, and dedication to his family will be remembered and cherished by all whose lives he touched.

Tony is survived by his three daughters, Theresa M. Coffin of Conway, S.C., Delia R. Lafayette of Langdon, N.H., and Juanita D. Rivera of Allentown; a son, Michael Rivera of Jim Thorpe; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Angel Rivera and Francisco Rivera, Jr.; as well as a sister, Nellie Matos.

In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Augustinowicz; a grandson, Mark Liebensperger; two brothers, Rafael and Luis Rivera; and two sisters, Delia Diaz and Teresa Vazquez.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 10-11 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 with a prayer service beginning at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour cemetery, Bethlehem.
