James "Jim" Thomas Hartnett, 93, of Telford, formerly of Lanark, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at the Lutheran Community at Telford. He was the husband of Nancie Jean (Neidig) Hartnett. James was born in Bethlehem on December 27, 1931. He was the son of the late John J. and Hanna D. (Durning) Hartnett. He owned and operated James T. Hartnett Construction Company and Lanark Construction Company for many years. Jim learned the trade of carpentry at the Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA where he lived and attended for 7 years. He excelled in football and wrestling and developed a strong work ethic rising daily at 5:30am to milk the cows at his group home. Jim was a dedicated general contractor, having built a successful career as a self-employed expert in the construction industry. In 1958, he and his wife realized their dream of homeownership by constructing their family home, complete with a cherished swimming pool where family memories were made for generations. Among his many accomplishments, he is especially remembered for his role in building St. Josephs Church, Limeport, a project he proudly completed, which opened its doors on Christmas Eve 1970. He also redesigned the original St. Josephs Church and converted it into a social hall.
Jim enjoyed the simple pleasures, including his love for tennis and his unwavering support of the Philadelphia Eagles. His number one passion was imparting wisdom to his children and grandchildren making daily phone calls and leaving detailed voice mails with encouraging words. Family was always his number one priority!
