James J. “Jim” Fischer, 72, of Bethlehem, formerly of Mt. Lebanon, PA passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023.
Born on August 14, 1951, in Bethlehem, he was the son of Donald and Elizabeth Fischer.
A graduate of Liberty High School and Robert Morris College, Jim served in the Navy and upon being honorably discharged, worked for Mac Trucks and the U.S. Postal Service in Western, PA/Pittsburgh District. Jim advanced through the Postal Service from carrier, supervisor, postmaster in Connellsville and at the senior level in the district office providing financial and analytics support to executive management. Jim was also an entrepreneur, having owned and operated a restaurant, a printing service and income tax preparation service. Additionally, he was a licensed investment broker for several years. Jim was proficient in information technology from early on and more recently savvy in e-commerce. He was also a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Jim will be dearly missed by his mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Fischer; sisters, Joan (Michael) Beachnau and Anne (John) Morahan and their families.
He is preceded in death by his father, Donald.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church, 450 E. Washington Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18017. Interment will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Anne’s Church.
