James J. Godovin

James J. Godovin, 73, of Bethlehem passed peacefully in his home on Wednesday, May 24th, 2023. He was a 1967 graduate of Liberty High School and attended the first class of Northampton Community College later that year. He served proudly in the United States Marine Corps from 1967 to 1970. He received a certification in electronics from De Vry Institute of Technology and worked for Snap-On Tools Industrial Division for 30 years. He retired in 2015. Jim was an intelligent, strong, humble and selfless man. He went above and beyond to help others and often lent his time as a skilled craftsman. He enjoyed Iron Pigs games with his family, walking his dogs, playing the guitar and piano, practical jokes and a good political or religious discussion. Jim also volunteered countless hours at the soup kitchen in Allentown and teaching the residents of Gracedale Nursing Home how to use a computer and electronic devices. He was an incredibly loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Giordano) Godovin, with whom he shared 43 years of marriage; four daughters, Melinda (Bartholomew), Jessica (Gabriel), Amanda (Baucom) and Lowrie (Forschner); son-in-laws, Anthony (Gabriel) and Eric (Forschner); and 7 grandchildren, Alexis, Jordan and Benjamin Bartholomew, Leo Gabriel, Ainsley and Reilly Baucom and Brent Forschner.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A celebration of life will follow at 10:30 in the funeral home where family and friends will be invited to openly share their fond memories and stories they have of Jim. Graveside services to follow.
