James J. "Joe" Kendy

James J. "Joe" Kendy, 83, of Bethlehem, passed away on June 9, 2026. Born on July 24, 1942, he was the son of the late Margaret (Dezso) and Paul Kendy. He was the loving husband of Clara A. (Pulli) Kendy.

Joe proudly served his country in the military police as a member of the United States Army. He retired from Bethlehem Steel after 33 years of service and went to work for the Morning Call where he met many great friends. Joe was the most dedicated husband and family man you would ever meet. Yearly trips to LBI with his family brought Joe so much joy. He enjoyed watching all Philadelphia sports teams and Penn State football but there is no place he would rather be than at his son and grandson's sporting events.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Clara A. Kendy; son, Joe Kendy and his wife, Logan; grandson, Ashton "AJ" Kendy and his "sister," Irene Pulli. He was preceded in death by his brothers, David P. Kendy and Robert L. Kendy.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026 from 5-7 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A calling hour will also be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 from 10-11 a.m. in the funeral home with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
