John A. Oyer

John A. Oyer, 89, passed away on October 6, 2026, in Hellertown, PA, at his home.

John was born on November 6, 1936, in Bethlehem, to the late George and Clara (King) Oyer. John was married to the love of his life, Loretta, for 59 years until her passing in 2023.

After graduating from high school, John proudly served as a veteran of the United States Army and carried with him a deep sense of dedication and service throughout his life. Following his time in the military, he devoted more than 30 years to serving his community as a mailman. He took great pride in his work and in the many people he came to know along his route, forming connections with generations of families along the way. His years of service, both in uniform and in his community, reflected his dependable nature, strong work ethic, and commitment to others. John's life was marked by a dedication to his family, his work, and his friends, leaving behind a legacy of service that will be remembered by all who knew him.

John is survived by his son, Jeffrey Oyer, of Freemansburg; his daughter, Lisa M. (Penny) Oyer, of Hellertown; and grandchildren, Charisma and Skylar Levens-Oyer.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Loretta Rose (Csordas) Oyer.

A viewing for John will be held on Saturday, October 10, from 9-10 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 East Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018. A prayer service will begin promptly at 10 a.m., with burial to follow at Union Cemetery of Hellertown, 85 Main Street, Hellertown, PA 18055.
