John R. Brown Sr.

John R. Brown, Sr., 83 of Bushkill Township, formerly of Bethlehem, died on Saturday May 13, 2006 at his residence. John was the son of the late Mitchell J. and Mary Briody Brown. He is the husband of Alicia F. King Brown with whom he celebrated their 63rd anniversary this past October.

John served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. John retired from Bethlehem Steel Co. in 1972 after 30 years service and retired from the Bethlehem Area School District in 1984 after 12 years of service.

John was an active member of the Bethlehem Chapter of A.A. recently celebrating his 54th anniversary. John will long be remembered for successfully working the 12 steps and for providing love, guidance and support to fellow members of the group.

John will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Alicia F. King Brown, his son John R. Brown, Jr. and wife Pamela of Bethlehem, PA, his daughter Eileen M. Coursen and her husband David E. of Bushkill Township with whom he resided; brothers Richard, Charles, Joseph and Harris, sisters Anna Marie Lipko and Elizabeth Smith, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many special friends.

John is predeceased by his parents, his brothers Mitchell, Thomas and George and two grandchildren.

Friends may call on Thursday, May 18 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Connell Funeral Home, Inc. at 245 E. Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA and from 10:00AM to 11:00AM on

Friday, May 19. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00AM Friday in the Connell Funeral Home. Burial will be at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
