Joseph Martin

Joseph Martin, 90, of Bethlehem, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill Campus. Born on May 27, 1936, Joseph was the devoted husband of Geraldine (Kempa) Martin, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.

Joseph was a graduate of Taylor High School and continued his education at Johnson's Trade School. He was known for his work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and love of fixing and building things. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Joseph served his country with honor before beginning a distinguished career as a machinist with Western Electric, later AT&T/Lucent Technologies, where he dedicated 40 years of service. Joseph was also a member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church. Following his retirement, he enjoyed 28 years filled with family, hobbies, and the simple pleasures of life. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, cheering on the Boston Red Sox, and spending countless hours tinkering with various projects. Above all, Joseph cherished the time he spent with his family.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine; his three children, Carl (Lisa) Martin, Linda (Todd) Van Horn, and Janet Martin; two grandchildren, Claire and Eric; as well as his sister, Dorothy Werner of Pottstown. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Anna (Galka) Martin.

Services will be held privately in accordance with Joseph’s wishes. Arrangements have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home, Inc.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church, 1861 Catasaqua Rd, Bethlehem PA 18018 in Joseph's memory.
