Madeline M. Ruddick Dailey, 85, of Madison, NJ, formerly of Bethlehem Township, PA and New Rochelle, NY, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Madison, NJ.
Born and raised in Elmira, NY, she was the daughter of the late Mary Litzelman and James Ruddick. She was married to Thomas P. Dailey for 42 years before his passing in 2002.
Madeline was a 1945 graduate of St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Elmira, NY. She received a BSN from Catholic University in Washington D.C. in 1954. Madeline worked as an Operating Room Supervisor at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira, NY until she married in 1959. Later, she was a part time school nurse in New Rochelle, NY.
Madeline was a devoted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Bethlehem, PA and its Senior Citizens Group and Ladies Guild. She was also a former member of Holy Family Parish in New Rochelle, NY.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Thomas P. Dailey III of Columbus, OH and Patrick C. Dailey of Marcellus, NY; daughters, Mary Anne, wife of Mark Grilli of Chatham, NJ, Elizabeth "Beth" Blauvelt of Flemington, NJ and Joan Dailey of Washington D.C.; brother, John Ruddick of Wilmington, DE; and sister, Sr. Theresa Rutty, RSM of Chile. She will also be remembered by her eight grandchildren. Madeline was a faith-filled, wise, and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Rev. James Ruddick, S.J. and sister, Helen Bentley.
SERVICES
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 2, 2010 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18020 at 11 AM. The family will receive friends and guests from 10 AM until the time of the service in the church. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem.
