Margarita Gines

Margarita (Rivera) Gines, 81, of Bethlehem, passed peacefully into eternal rest on December 1, 2025, at St. Luke's Fountain Hill. She was born on February 2, 1944, in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, to the late Jorge Rivera and Catalina Berrios. In addition to her parents, Margarita was preceded in death by her loving husband, Guillermo Torres, who passed in 2003.

Margarita was known for her beauty, but those who knew her best would say her true hallmark was her strength. She was headstrong, determined, and unafraid to stand her ground, qualities that helped her navigate life's joys and challenges with grace and courage. A devoted member of Holy Infancy Church, Bethlehem, Margarita poured her heart into her faith community. Her strong faith guided her life and touched many around her. At home, Margarita shared a special bond with her beloved cockatiel, Panchi, who was her constant companion and a source of laughter and joy. Their connection was a testament to her gentle spirit and nurturing heart.

Margarita is survived by her devoted son, Angel Luis Gines, and his wife, Luz Gines; her cherished grandson, Jacob Gines-Santiago, and his girlfriend, Erin Devine; her beloved granddaughters, Karen and Krystal Gines; and the sister to her daughter-in-law, Nilda Rivera.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 1-3 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018. A funeral service will follow. A burial will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Margarita.
