Mary D. Mellon

February 20, 1910 — September 13, 2006

Mary D. Mellon, 96, of Yardley, Pa. died Wednesday Sept. 13th at Mill Run Assisted Living Center in Bristol, Pa. She was the wife of the late Robert P. Mellon who died in 1983.

Born in Bethlehem, Pa she was the daughter of the late Dr. John and Marie Hildenberger Hart.

Mary spent her life devoted to Art. She attended Philadelphia College of Art and Edenboro State Teachers College, earned her BA and her Masters at Kutztown State Teachers College. After college she and her family moved to Springtown, Pa. where she was the Coordinator of Art for Elementary Schools in the Palisades School District.

She later taught art at Delhaas High School and at Woodrow Wilson High School Truman High, both in Bristol, Pa.

She and her husband later retired to Sun City, AZ for many years. During her 40 plus years of marriage she and Robert enjoyed ballroom dancing. In the 1990?s she returned to the Yardley area to be close to some of her family.

Mary loved all sorts of nature but truly enjoyed bird watching.

She will always be remembered for her love and her feistiness by her 2 sons Richard H. Mellon husband of Wendy of Yardley, Pa., Robert Courtney Mellon of Coto de Caza, CA, her 8 grandchildren; Michael, Richard, John, Christopher, Robert, Geoffrey, John and Noel and her eleven great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister Elizabeth Goldcamp of Sun City, AZ

She was preceded in death by her daughter MaryAnn and her brothers John and Philip Hart.

A Celebration of her Life Service will be held on Satruday Sept. 23rd at 11:00 a.m. in the Connell Funeral Home 245 East Broad Street Bethlehem, Pa.
