Mary "Dottie" Dorothy Hudak, 94, of Bethlehem Twp., passed away Monday, April 20, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Leonard J. Hudak who died March 17, 2010. Dottie was born in Nanticoke, Luzerne County, PA on August 19, 1931 to the late Metro and Mary (Sedlak) Senar. Dottie left school early to contribute to her family, beginning her career in a cigar factory in the Coal Region. Her entrepreneurial spirit blossomed over the years as she became a well-respected saleswoman for Avon, serving her clients for an impressive 50+ years and earning a lifetime membership in the prestigious President's Club. She demonstrated her strong work ethic working for Barbara Kerschmar, hairdresser, Larry's Florist in Easton, Jamann's Greenhouses in Bethlehem and as a server for the Masonic Temple, Bethlehem. Her greatest joy came from her family. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always remembering everyone's birthdays including all of her friends up until her passing. An avid socialite, Dottie delighted in attending community events and was particularly fond of Polka dances, reflecting her lively spirit.
A spirited athlete in her youth, she earned the affectionate nickname "Slugger" while playing baseball. Her competitive nature and love for sports remained with her throughout her life. She was a dedicated Philadelphia Phillies fan, cheering them on with unwavering enthusiasm. Additionally, she enjoyed spending time at the bowling alley, making memories with friends and family. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Bethlehem Twp and its Altar Rosary Society.
Survivors: children: Barbara and her husband Joseph DeFranco of Roseto, Kenneth and his wife Kristin Hudak of Delaware, Michael and his wife Kathleen Hudak of Bethlehem, Twp., Doreen and her husband Fred Baranowski of Bethlehem Twp.; son-in-law: James O'Brien of Palmer Twp.; sister: Emma Focht of Allentown; 13 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her daughter: Susan O'Brien; siblings: John Senar, Joseph Senar, Andrew Senar & Jean Sommers.
Services: Family and friends are invited to her viewings from 6-8pm Monday April 27, 2026 and 10-11am Tuesday, April 28, 2026 both at the Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad Street, Bethlehem, followed by a prayer service at 11am. The interment will conclude with services at Woodlawn Cemetery, Allentown.
