Mary Joan Sweeney

Mary Joan Sweeney, 79, formerly of Allentown, died on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Mosser Nursing Home in Trexlertown.

She was born June 10, 1932 in Hazleton, the daughter of the late James Q. and Mary A. Gallagher Sweeney.

Mary began her career with Bell Telephone and later retired from Lucent Technologies. Mary then worked for Allentown Osteopathic Hospital in Allentown as a Switchboard Operator.

Mary will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Dorothy Kimock and her husband George of Bethlehem and Margaret Borzage and her husband Stanley of Schnecksville; her nephew, Joseph Kimock and three nieces, Tracy Delans. Mary Rose DiMaria and Dorothy Posh as well as 10 great nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011 from 10-11 AM with a funeral service to immediately follow at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018.

Burial will be held at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Allentown.
