Mary Skutches

Mary Ann Skutches, 80, lifetime resident of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospice House. She was the wife of the late Dr. Joseph M. Skutches and they were married for 55 years before his passing in 2020.

Born on July 23, 1944, in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Glass) Longo.

Mary Ann graduated from St. Luke's Hospital school of nursing in 1965 and worked in the emergency ward for a year. She worked and volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital for a majority of her career and worked for about 40 years at St. Luke's OBGYN. In her spare time, Mary Ann enjoyed sports, tennis and golf. She was a faithful member of Grace Church, Bethlehem and Saucon Valley Country Club.

She will be dearly missed by her two children, Meredith and David; stepchildren, Joe, Greg, Cathy, and Mike; two grandchildren, Chase and Kylie; and eight other grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Joe, and parents, Mary Ann is preceded in death by her two siblings: Jackie and Al.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 10-11 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 with a memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Church, 4301 Hecktown Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18020, St. Luke's Hospice House, 2455 Black River Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18015 or St. Luke's Hospital, Anderson Mother and Baby Unit.
