Monika Safar, 91, of Kondorfa, Hungary and formally of Bethlehem PA, died Monday October 13th, 2025 in Kormend, Hungary.
Born in Kondorfa, Hungary on April 7, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Regina Medics Herczeg and Imre Herczeg. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, of 59 years, Frank Safar, in 2010. Also predeceased by her brother James Herczeg of Bethlehem and sister Juli Pali of Kondorfa, Hungary.
Upon arriving in America in 1956, Monika worked in the garment industry in Bethlehem prior to gaining her career at AT&T / Western Electric / Lucent as an assembly line worker, where she worked for many years until she retired.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Frank Safar and daughter-in-law, Diane Safar of Macungie PA, brother Leslie Herczeg and his wife, Shirley of Allentown PA, Grandchildren: Rebecca Pruitt of Hawkins, Texas, Alexander Safar of North East MD, Michael Safar and Fiancée Erica Isner of LaPlata MD.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 24th, 2025 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 another viewing will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 9-10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 450 E. Washington Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18017. Interment will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
