Pasquale "Pat" Gentile passed peacefully on December 31, 2025 in Bethlehem PA surrounded in love by his children. Most recently, Pat was a resident of Holy Family Senior Living in Bethlehem. There he received their very best care and where he enjoyed singing and laughing with his neighbors.
Pat was born on October 13, 1936 in the Little Italy / Belmont section of the Bronx to Adelaide and Pasquale Gentile, the third of their four children. As a boy, he spent many youthful summers on his family's farm in Berwick, PA. His stories of walking to school uphill (both ways), barefoot, in the winter storms and farm life while there, were oft-told, dramatic, and perhaps embellished. With a sharp mind for math and numbers, Pat was a graduate of Baruch College in New York City, majoring in accounting. He quickly became a partner in a mid-sized boutique NYC accounting firm that ultimately bore his name and had offices in Manhattan, Westchester, NJ, and PA.
He married Angela (nee Borreggine) in 1960 and together had three beautiful children. She pre-deceased him in 2000. He married Kathleen Tatar (nee Stosky) in 1982 and together raised her two handsome boys. She pre-deceased him in 2014.
Pasquale lived in the Hudson Valley until he retired and moved to New Bern, NC to spend more time playing golf, gardening, and being closely involved with (thanks to and along with his wife Kathleen) many animal rescue and welfare organizations. After Kathy's death, Pat returned north to PA where he remained until his passing at the very end of 2025.
Pat is remembered with love and affection by many, family and friends, including his children Philip Gentile, Steven Gentile, Suzanne Murphy, Bill Tatar, Matthew Tatar, and their associated spouses and partners, his grandchildren - Kristofer, Peter, Conner, Ryan, Ashley, Alexander, and Joseph - and by one surviving brother Matthew, many nieces, nephews, and friends made throughout his 89 years. May he remain forever in our heart and may the memory of him be the blessing he was to all who knew him. Pat's "Dad jokes and Pat phrases" were legendary and bad; his golf game and singing were a little better. He will always be in our hearts.
To honor the passions of Pat and his beloved Kathleen, we ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in their name to Saugerties Animal Welfare Fund (PO Box 45, Saugerties, NY, 12477) or a local animal shelter/rescue of your choosing.
Services will be held at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E Broad St., Bethlehem, PA on January 17, 2026, with a gathering at 2 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m.
