Patrick S. Fernandes, 80, of Bethlehem, died Tuesday March 18, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. Born on March 16, 1928, in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Severino and Sophie Sury Fernandes. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Kilheeney Fernandes.
Patrick was employed by the Bethlehem Steel for 37 years, working as a millwright in the Blast Furnace Department, retiring in 1987. He worked for the city of Bethlehem as a crossing guard, at the corner of Fairview and Main Streets, for 19 years. He was a veteran of the Army having served during WWII. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Bethlehem, of the Hellertown American Legion and the V.F.W. He was also a member of the Heights A.A., Wanderers, Steelworkers' Archives and the Pennsylvania Federation of Injured Workers.
He will be lovingly remembered by: wife, Mary; sons, William and Wayne; daughter, Joanne McNabb and husband Thomas J.; grandsons, Walter, Robert and Jarred.
