Philip B. Comito, 96, formerly of Bethlehem and most recently of Harrisburg, PA, died peacefully on June 26, 2026.
Philip was born on May 30, 1930 to the late Vincent and Anna Dzamka Comito. He served in the United States Army from 1951-1953. He was a graduate of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ and retired from M & T Chemicals in Rahway, NJ in 1990. Philip married the love of his life, Kathleen Mary Rush on June 3, 1951 with whom he shared 74 beautiful years of marriage.
Philip was a devoted and loving husband to Kathleen and a dedicated and wonderful father to his children: Ellen Serra and her husband, Tommaso; Joseph Comito and his wife, Rachelle; and Jane Healey and her husband, Dennis. He was preceded in death by three beloved sons, Thomas, Jeffrey, and Charles. Philip leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Philip was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Bethlehem and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 313. He was a 4th Degree Knight and served his council well. Philip also served meals many times alongside Kathleen at retreats held at the St. Francis Retreat House in Easton, PA. Philip had many interests including birdwatching, stamp collecting, woodworking, photography, and painting with watercolors and acrylics. He also loved to read and watch Yankees games. Philip's greatest passion was spending time outdoors and he was an avid gardener for many years. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Philip will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026 from 10-11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18020. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:15 a.m. in the Church. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
