Sharon Showell Holmes AKA (Sunshine Girl), 60, of Bethlehem passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Sept. 16, 1961 to Ellsworth (Stanley) Showell and Bette Showell. Sharon was the third of four children born to this union. Sharon's family moved from Brooklyn to Manhattan and then to Astoria Houses. In 1979 Sharon graduated from Bayside High school with Sharons love of life she worked at Rikers Island, she had a CDL license and drove a school bus. Sharon also worked at Liberty High School where the staff and children loved her. Sharon moved to Florida where she met her husband of 31 years Johnnie B. Holmes to this union they had a beautiful daughter Brittany (Muffin Cake) Holmes. Sharon was also a mother to her nieces Sabrina, Sharon Renee, Aziza and her great-niece Serenity whom she loved as her own helping to raise them and making sure they were always taken care of. Sharon also has four nephews Randall, Jamel, Jasiah, Jalon and a great-nephew Khary That will never forget the genuine love they received from their Aunt Shay. Sharon was happy and full of life she gave freely and would often make you laugh. Sharon was often admired for her wardrobe and glamorous style. Sharon was a Fly girl. Sharon is cherished by her sister, friend and confidant Mecca. Sharon will be truly missed by all those that she left behind our hearts are so broken. She was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly Blessed.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Johnnie B. Holmes; daughter, Brittany Holmes; son, Damareo Holmes; brothers, Stanley L. Showell and Ellsworth Timothy Showell; sisters, Jacqueline Mitchell, Mecca Hudson and Marian Smith; grandson, Damareo Holmes, Jr.; mother-in-law, Patricia Ann Holmes; nieces and nephews, Marian Sabrina Showell, Randel Halsey, Aziza Showell, Jasiah Hudson, Jamel Hudson, Jalon Hudson, Serenity Mann, Khary Halsey, Dollisa Jackson and Messiah Jackson; aunts and uncles, Gwendolyn Eleazer, Sharon Gavin Levy and Nicholas Gavin and brothers and sisters in-laws, Sabrina Holmes, Kenneth Holmes, Sonya Walker, Aurona Sears, Roy Pierce, Algernon Holmes, Calvin McCoy, Launce Holmes and Damian Holmes. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Ellsworth S. and Bette (Eleazer) Showell; niece, Sharon Renee Mann and father-in-law, Johnnie Holmes, Sr.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Greater Shiloh Church, 403 Pastor Fred Davis St. Easton, PA 18042. Burial will be held at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
