Shirley I. Shunk, 91, of Bethlehem, PA passed away on December 3, 2025, at Moravian Hall Square in Nazareth, PA. She was the loving wife of the late William R. Shunk, Jr. Born May 1, 1934, in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Rene Feltault and Lillian (Horsford) Feltault Keeler.
Shirley was known for her grace, warmth, and unwavering kindness. She dedicated her life to her family, her faith, and her community, always showing up for the people and causes she cared about. Whether cheering at her children's games, traveling the world to visit them, or offering a listening ear, she lived out her values with consistency and love.
A graduate of St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1955, Shirley spent her life in service to others. She worked as a nurse at Lehigh University from 1986-1991, served as a substitute school nurse for the Bethlehem Area School District, and volunteered extensively in roles that reflected her compassion. She served the Miller Blood Center for over 5,000 volunteer hours, many in the Bloodmobile and gave her time at the Cancer Boutique, among other nonprofits. Her commitment to helping others earned her deep respect from all who knew her.
Shirley's faith was a guiding force. She was an active parishioner and eucharistic minister at St. Anne Catholic Church in Bethlehem. At home, she found joy in baking, sewing, and sharing her gifts with others. Playing the piano brought her peace, and she maintained a keen interest in world events throughout her life.
Above all, Shirley cherished her family. She will be dearly missed by her children: Regina (Bill) Casey of North Andover, MA; Teresa (Joe) Ocampo of Ann Arbor, MI; Chris (Jen) Shunk of Easton; and Joe (Marli) Shunk of Adliswil, Switzerland. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons. She was predeceased by her daughter, Dianne Rimkus, and her brothers, Robert and Frederick Feltault.
