Theresa Achey

Theresa Achey, 78, of Bethlehem, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on September 30, 1947, in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Hilda (Wagner) August. She was a 1965 graduate of Liberty High School. For over 30 years, she was the loving wife of the late Ronald Achey, who passed in 2008.

Some of Theresa's happiest days were spent with her family-playing cards, reminiscing about the old times, or simply telling jokes and laughing. She loved animals-especially her granddogs, Abbey and Pepper. She also enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and driving around during Christmas to see all the lights and decorations. Theresa spent over 20 years as a teacher's aide in the Bethlehem Area School District, helping to shape the lives of countless students who continued to recognize her well after they left elementary school.

Theresa will be dearly missed by her only daughter, Melissa Payne and her husband, Jason; siblings, Frances Kratzer, Ed August and his wife, Debbie and, Richie August and his wife, Elza; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Theresa is preceded in death by her brother, Jack August, her brother-in-law, Jack Kratzer, and her sister-in-law, Betty August.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Infancy Church, 312 E. 4th St., Bethlehem, PA 18015. Burial will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
