Wallace J. Decrosta

Wallace J. DeCrosta, 82, of Bethlehem died Tuesday October, 24, 2006, at Triumph Hospital in Easton. Born June 13, 1924 in Bethlehem; he was the son of the late Peter L. and Ethel Korpics DeCrosta. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Rose Loeffler.

A lifelong Bethlehem resident, he was the City?s Controller for 42 years and a certified public accountant. During his last term the city designated September 3rd as ?DeCrosta Day? honoring his tenure. He graduated from Lehigh University with a degree in business administration. He was the past president of the Bethlehem Optimist Club, the secretary of Goodfellows, and a lifelong member of the Amvets Club. In 1988, Wallace received the City Controller of the Year Award from the Pennsylvania City Controller?s Association of Third-Class Cities, and he was a past president of the organization. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army which included a tour in the Pacific Theatre.

Wallace will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Rose of Bethlehem; daughter, Michelle of Bethlehem Twp.; sons, Mark of Upper Macungie; and David of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, Jaclyn, Christopher, and Austin; brothers, Peter and Thomas of Bethlehem and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Matthew.

Arrangements are being handled by Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St, Bethlehem where visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday October 27th. An 8:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday October 28th, at the Packer Memorial Church, Packer Ave. & University Dr, Bethlehem. Interment will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem
