William B. Mccoach

September 19, 1931 — March 18, 2022

William B. McCoach, 90, of Brandon, FL, passed away peacefully Friday, March 18, 2022 at LifePath Hospice House in Sun City Center, Florida.

Born September 19, 1931, Bill was the son of the late Robert and Williamina (Young) McCoach. He was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn (Martin) McCoach.

He will be lovingly remembered by his sons Bill (Katie) McCoach of Bryn Mawr, PA; Scott (Sharon) McCoach of Brandon, FL, grandchildren, Tiffany and Christopher McCoach of Brandon, FL; Will and Andrew McCoach of Bryn Mawr, PA; cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bill served his country in the Korean War.

Bill spent the majority of his professional career working in various capacities for the Diocese of Allentown. He will be forever remembered as the iconic “Voice Of Lehigh Athletics” and District 11 wrestling. In a career that spanned nearly 30 years, Bill was the PA announcer for just about every team at Lehigh (with a streak of 560 consecutive basketball games from 1988-2009), too many District 11 and Northeast Region wrestling tournaments to remember as well as announcing for Bethlehem Catholic High School wrestling and football to start his career. He created lasting memories with his distinct style and loved every second of being part of so many great events, especially the lasting friendships. To say he was loved by coaches, staff, media members and athletes would be an understatement. Bill is also a member of the District 11 wrestling Hall of Fame.

Bill treasured his family, friends and every one he met. He spent his last 3 years with his son, Scott and his wife Sharon in Brandon, Fl, where he loved helping out at their non-profit, Bread of Refuge. Bill brought hugs, laughter, and big smiles to his family, friends, and caregivers even to the very end.
