William L. Wieder

William L. Wieder, 92, of Bethlehem, died on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at VNA Hospice House of St. Luke's. He was born October 6, 1915 in Allentown, the son of the John and Theresa Salber Wieder. William was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth E. Pivnicny Wieder.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1935 to 1937.

William retired in 1977 after 38 years of service at the Bethlehem Steel Co., where he worked as a Table Operator in the 12 and 18 inch Rolling Mill, Saucon Plant. He was a member of the USWA Local 2599.

William was a member of the former SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Bethlehem and current member of Incarnation of Our Lord Parish, Bethlehem.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Marilyn F. wife of Kirk Timmins of Center Valley, son, Arnold V. Wieder husband of Barbara of Bethlehem; and sister, Angela Yonney of Nazareth. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Jennifer wife of Luis Gamez of El Cajon, CA; Kerry Wieder of Martinez, CA, Darren Fritsch husband of Shiva of East Potomac, MD, Jonathan Timmins of Chicago, IL, and Lauren Timmins of Center Valley as well as two great-grandchildren, Xavier Estaban Gamez and Sophia Emily Fritsch. He was preceded in death by his four brothers, John, Frank, Frederick and Walter.

William had a passion for carpentry and sports and a very strong loving interest in his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his favorite expression "Hang in There".

Services: A Visitation will be held at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem this evening from 6-8 p.m. and again on Saturday, from 9-9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Incarnation of Our Lord Parish 617 Pierce St. Bethlehem, PA 18015 on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 10 AM. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, in Bethlehem.
